Sea Soaring Marine is conducting RST courses throughout the southwest up to March 30, 2025. To see scheduled course dates, please go to the menu Course Schedule and Booking on the home page and scroll down to your preferred location.
Option 1- Gracetown training venue. No minimum numbers apply.
Option 2- Southwest private RST group courses on request. Bunbury/Busselton/Dunsborough/Augusta regions ( min 3 required ), with the theory training/assessment delivered in the comfort of your own home and practical at the nearest boat ramp.
Option 3- Enrol in a scheduled course at Gracetown or Bunbury by going to the home page menu Course Schedule and Booking for upcoming dates.
$390 course cost includes all the following: Free access to our new Online Theory Training Course, training prior to both theory and practical assessments, Gov’t licencing fee, free use of purpose training vessel, local boating info and ongoing support after you have finished your course. “MUCH MORE THAN JUST A SKIPPER’S TICKET”
General Course Info
- Authorised RST Provider-Alliance Boat Training WA- Registered Training Organisation 51536.
- Comprehensive course with all training, assessment and use of a purpose training vessel.
- There is no reason why you cannot achieve this license with the quality training that Sea Soaring Marine provides.
- Special arrangements can be made for organisations requiring private courses – please contact Wayne to discuss your needs.
Course Requirement Info
- Minimum age to hold a WA RST skipper’s license is 14 years.
- Prior to attending the course you are required to watch the RST Training video supplied by Sea Soaring Marine which is generated once your tax invoice has been paid
- You may also choose to download the RST Workbook below as a reference, however my online training courses covers all the content required or the course.

THEORY
- Includes revision of the theory course, with display of marker buoys and safety equipment in the classroom.
- After the theory training you will sit for the 40 multi choice theory questions.
- A minimum of 34 out of 40 is required in the theory assessment to progress to the practical.
- The comprehensive theory training video and revision ensures you will meet this requirement.
You will require:
- Proof of identification (eg. current driver’s license or passport OR birth certificate & medicare / bankcard).
- Additional paperwork required if under 18 years of age – see below
- Snacks and drinks.
- Requirements for under 18 years:
- Proof of identification – either Aust driver’s license OR passport OR birth certificate & medicare/bankcard
- Letter of consent – signed by parent/legal guardian
- Eyesight test completed if no current Aust driver’s license or learner’s permit
PRACTICAL (approx. 1-2 hours numbers dependant)
- There are 11 practical tasks to complete.
- You will be trained and provided with practise opportunities prior to being assessed for the tasks.
- A purpose training vessel, sunscreen, PFD’s are provided for training and assessment.
